Tamrissa watches Naraka take a seat beside her, his eyes going to Jihon as the question on the Hells Wind is asked.
I know they are vicious creatures, not human at all, and receive their powers and numbers from the Lower Umbra. They opened a direct link to our plane and the Middle Umbra, or Earth, with some sort of device. Neither Tamrissa or I could keep them at bay, even with both of our powers combined, he steeples his fingers and touches his lips to them for a moment. I believe we have not seen the last of them
despite our success in severing the link between our worlds.
He glances sideways to Kawanua as he approaches Tamrissa, but continues talking.
I was hoping that you and your allies would join forces with us to defeat them when the time comes. It will not be an easy battle...
His hand catches Tamrissas arm as she leaps out of her chair in response to Kawanuas words. Her eyes flash brightly with anger as Naraka touches her and words tumble from her lips.
How dare you! she trembles, fists balled at her sides. You know nothing! I am finally happy, I am finally whole
and this is what congratulations I get? Accusations of being false?
Tamrissa, darling, sit, Naraka frowns at her, then narrows his eyes at Kawanua. Please, my lord, take your seat and enjoy the welcome we have provided you. I assure you that we are not trying to mislead you in any way. Perhaps you are just grief-stricken and
granted
the Lady Tamrissa has not always been this pleasant
and she still has her moments, but she is of good health and sound mind.
His lips curl in a slight smirk at his own comment and he then releases his ladys arm. She settles back in her chair and picks up her wine, hand shaking.
My lady? Naraka is one of those who rises to their feet when Asaki suddenly takes ill.
He flicks his eyes to a guard standing near the darkened stairwell at the end of the hall, the man bows his head and disappears up those stairs. As Asaki exits, Naraka sits back down.
I thank you, sir, but it is the cooks and servants who should be given all credit, Naraka eyes Soul Reaver, the smile on his face not reaching his eyes.
Tamrissa stays silent, lips in a hard line and eyes lowered to the table as she picks at a slice of warm bread.
I am a refugee along with the rest of my people. We come from a planet known as Zeraim, though it is no longer in existence, he explains to Soul. It was luck that lead us here through the last remaining gate before the planet was destroyed. Less than a fourth of our population survived and those are the people that traveled through the gate. Fate brought us to this Umbra it seems. We had no set course in mind, only the will to escape alive.
His hand moves to Tamrissas as he continues.
As for the rest, it is by this womans hands that the Upper Umbra is now alive again, he brings the pale hand to his lips. She is the reason for my peoples safety and prosperity.
Tam raises her eyes and smiles shyly, color filling her cheeks. Naraka smiles only for a moment, then his head jerks upwards and he glares up at the balcony. His face then relaxes and he covers a yawn.
Pardon me, I grow weary, he says calmly, lowering his eyes to glance around the table. When you are finished here, someone can show you to your rooms. It will be a pleasure to see you all early tomorrow morning, in this very room if you please.
He stands, looking down at Tamrissa.
You will come to bed soon, he whispers, making it sound like a question.
Yes, she whispers back and watches him stride from the room
In other parts of the palace, the night begins to heat up with the flames of suspicion and the first bonds to be placed on the betrayed
(OOC: Go to your rooms!
Actually, do what you want...but please remember that the guards are "mind-twisters" (still like that word, Kawan
) and the servants are spies....and Naraka is not as weak and unknowing as you may think.....don't underestimate.
"Mind-Twisters" ---- Can create illusions, roll minds, turn your will against you, and capture you without touching you.....not all are powerful, but the higher ranking guards are masters and the priests are grandmasters.....and guess who is king of 'em all? Uh huh....
