(ooc: Holy crap! You guys posted all that in 24 hours?! Madness!
ASAKI!!! Please check your e-mail!!
Anyway, I hope you'll let me take some liberties with Soul Reaver's own confinement... it seems like everyone else assumed their box was just a magically locked box. Mine will be much more like Tamrissa's one, though... anti-magical inside. Oh, and sorry Kawanua, but Soul Reaver won't have received your message, because his box also blocks all mental contact with others.)
Soul Reaver quietly regenerates his powers for several minutes. His arm is finally restored... the gauntlet reappears over the naked flesh of his hand in a burst of redness.
Soul Reaver decides he will join his companions to warn them. The guards should not prove to be much of a problem. He picks up Blooddrinker and reaches for the door...
His hand stops just before touching the door-handle.
"Wait... there is something amiss..."
Soul Reaver has finally become sufficiently attuned to the energies around him to detect that the 'guest room' is just a facade. The room around him shimmers very slightly... everything is not completely real.
As Soul Reaver scowls, the illusion melts away... leaving Soul Reaver in a dark and otherwise empty box. The walls are completely flat and devoid of any features. Apparently they are made of metal.
Soul Reaver tests his prison, slamming a fist into the wall with a deafening clang. Power crackles from the point of impact, but the wall is untouched.
A guard shouts from outside, "Quiet in there, you worthless piece of meat!"
Soul Reaver thinks for a moment.
So... it is guarded by an energy field. And I sense powerful anti-magic here too, now that I have become aware of the illusion. Spell casting will be impossible.
It seems Naraka has seen fit to give me a very special guest-room indeed.
Unfortunately, I cannot stay here and wait for things to play out. I think the time has come to pay an unkind visit to Naraka.Soul Reaver's face goes grim as he grips Blooddrinker in both hands.
"Time to leave this place! Blooddrinker, feed!"
Soul Reaver slams Blooddrinker's point against the cell-wall. The energy field flares up... but suddenly begins to stutter.
Blooddrinker sighs as it draws in the energy to feed itself, syphoning off the power that reinforces the walls of the box. Without the magic sustaining them, the walls begin to show signs of imperfection and touches of rust.
Blooddrinker slowly penetrates the thinning field, until it touches the metal walls... and continues on, slicing through it like a hot knife through butter.
The sword makes no sound other than a quiet hiss as it cuts through the metal... its blade having sharpened itself to an unnatural level.
Soul Reaver deftly grabs the metal plate with one hand as it falls from the newly-created hole, catching it before it strikes the ground.
Magical energies wash back over Soul Reaver, indicating he has penetrated the null-zone created by the box.
The two guards outside his box face away from him... apparently thinking there is no way that he will get out.
It is the last mistake they will ever make.
Soul Reaver dives through the irregular hole in the box, rolling on the ground between the two startled Hell's Wind guards. Before they can raise their blades, Blooddrinker is swinging in a deadly horizontal arc. With an almost unheard 'swish', the blade cuts the to guards cleanly through the middle. Their bodies topple to the ground, their entrails spilling onto the flagstones.
Soul Reaver's eyes glitter with red as he storms out into the corridor. Several guards run around the corner just as he emerges. They look surprised, then gesture in the air... and transform into massive, slavering beasts, each so nightmarish as to make ordinary men cower in terror.
Soul Reaver is unimpressed.
Shouting a battle cry, he falls upon the nearest guard, punching with enough concentrated force that his fist bursts out the back of the startled guards' body. The illusion he wove melts away to nothiness, leaving only his mangled corpse.
Soul Reaver looks at the other guards in anger, death in his eyes. Their illusions are nothing more than translucent, shimmering images to him. The guards begin to back away in fear.
"Foolish mindbenders! Your petty, ill-woven mirages are nothing to me! But my powers, as you will soon see, are real enough!"
Soul Reaver leaps forward as the front guard breaks into a run. The guard's left leg is cleanly sliced off before he can move more than two steps... he falls to the ground, and the killing thrust comes mercifully quickly.
Two guards draw their longswords and prepare to fight back.
Soul Reaver chants some words of magic and extends his hands in front of him. A chilling blizzard of icy blue energy rolls from his outstretched hands. Sword-sized slivers of ice form from the moisture in the air and are driven forward by the unnatural gale. They slam into the remaining guards, and they all fall, impaled by dozens of the freezing lances. Their bodies litter the frost-coated floor.
Soul Reaver makes to leave, when suddenly he hears a weak mental cry for help... strongly muffled by the effects of a prison-box.
It is Jharm! I should release him...Soul Reaver storms down past the dining hall, slaying anyone that opposes his progress. As he get closer, he begins to sense Jharm's presence.
Soul Reaver kicks in the door that leads to the room containing Jharm's prison. The two Hell's Wind guards beside the box are startled and confront Soul Reaver. Yet, in an instant, they are both dispatched with a blaze of magical energy that envelops them in scorching flame, burning their flesh away like paper.
Soul Reaver walks towards Jharm's box.
"Angel, if you value your life, then get away from the Eastern side of your prison!"
A muted scuffling sound inside indicates that Jharm has complied.
Soul Reaver nods.
He grasps Blooddrinker firmly in both hands and brings the sword into the air above his head. Then, with a shout, Soul Reaver brings it down onto the wall of the box.
Three hacks open a gateway large enough for Jharm to emerge.
Soul Reaver urges him out with a wave of his hand.
"Quickly! Release your men, then help me find the others!"
