Tamrissa frowns as Asaki explains what she saw happen to Peterson. Her hand waves dismissively at Zera, the devious woman adding nothing to the conversation worth listening to. She glances at Soul.

"I...don't know if I should wait or move on with the rest of you. It doesn't seem right to just leave. Yet, I will not find myself off on another quest, even for an ambassador under my care," she shakes her head and sighs. "The only choice seems to be..."

The book scattering into pieces and the sudden darkly promising tone of Gulver makes her stop short. She looks at Shenba.

"Thank you, Shenba, I have to agree with all but one thing...there won't be any fighting...at all! Even after this is over!" she hisses at both of them. "Zera will no longer be following that path, if she is instructed properly."

Her eyes go to Thisias, staring harshly at him. Then they go to Gulver, before turning back to Soul.

"As I was saying, the only choice is a message left for him with our news friends, eh? It is only right for me to move on I suppose," she smiles dryly and rolls her eyes upwards. "This mission is becoming awfully side-tracked so close to its beginning...and I refuse to contribute to the madness."

Asaki stares at Keseno, startled after she is thrown to the ground.
Shenba: "I don't think that was an attack, I think it was his energy trying to latch onto you...but your chaos energy rebounded it. I guess his energy is running wild having no mind to control it."
"I kinda figured as much."
The teenager glances at Shenba as she begins to laugh.
Shenba: "He won't like what he is wearing, but it will be funny to see his facial expression."
Asaki rises slowly to her feet, rubbing her back.
"Yeah? Well, it was all I could think of on the spur of the moment. Anything's better than running around butt naked."

The teenager watches as Gulver and Zera battle it on like children and Tamrissa and Shenba settle the quarrel.

Tamrissa: "As I was saying, the only choice is a message left for him with our news friends, eh? It is only right for me to move on I suppose. This mission is becoming awfully side-tracked so close to its beginning...and I refuse to contribute to the madness."
Asaki comes closer to them, dusting off her clothes.
"I agree. We're never gonna find this Stav' guy if we don't start looking real soon...'sides," she jerks a thumb towards Zera and Gulver and whispers to where they can't hear. "If their constant outbursts get any worse, there won't be slag left of this palace by noon."

If I were a Slayers character, I'd be Gourry Gabriev! Who would you be?

Shenba looks at Tamrissa and nods. She looks at Gulver and Zera again knowing this little fight will spark up again.. She lifts up keseno seeing his he can walk, just barely but he does not seem to know that he is.. Shenba grabs the back of the shirt and cuts 2 holds letting keseno's wings hang out freely... no longer dragging along the ground they curl up and hang neatly and now look like normal wing size..

" I think she should be leaving now... Like tamrissa said we hve been side tracked long enough...Soul? Its your call "

Jihon, be expecting that other post later tonight. ))

As the group all stands around talking, a warp gate is suddenly torn open behind them, and a large medieval looking warrior steps out. He wears a bulky, gothic style suit of armour with a cape, and a helm with two slits for eyeholes and horns coming off of either side. There is a rather large scythe strapped to his back. The figure turns to watch the gate close itself, and then turns to regard Tamrissa. He removes his helm, revealing himself to be Peterson.

"Sorry about that, Lady Tamrissa. Lord Cameron can be really pushy when he wants to talk to someone."

Peterson looks around quickly.

"What did I miss?"

Soul Reaver watches the quarrel with little interest. He would expect no less from these two creatures.

Why not simply rid yourself of them? They will not be missed, and you would probably be saving yourself the trouble of fighting them later on more uneven terms.

Soul Reaver doesn't comment. He knows the sword is echoing his own darker desires, but he is too well-versed in it's treachery to fall for such a ploy.

Instead, Soul Reaver walks to the far wall of the library, then turns around to face the others.

"Very well, Tamrissa. Leave a message for Peterson, although I would hope he can find his own way back. We will leave now, before the trail grows any colder."

Soul Reaver spins around and draws Blooddrinker in one fluid motion, cleaving a line of red through the air in front of him. Reality splits open into a Warp Gate. To Soul Reaver's eyes, he sees a glimmering trail constantly shiftingand writing in the Warp, to match the path that Stavarus took to reach his destination through this ever-changing realm.

Soul Reaver cautions the others.

"Follow me exactly... I must navigate from within the Warp, since I do not know our desired point of exit in advance."

Soul Reaver, making sure the others have all heard and have made their necessary preparations, enters the Warp. Struggling against the unusually vicious Warp Storms, and against the constant shifting and sliding for Stavarus' trail, Soul Reaver eventually reaches the point where Stavarus re-entered the Mortal Plane.

A relieved swing with Blooddrinker opens the necessary exit. Soul Reaver emerges from the Warp Gate onto a large, grassy plain.

The area seems somewhat desolate. It is hilly and littered with mossy boulders, but the firm, emerald green grass beneath Soul Reaver's boots makes this world seem like heaven compared to the vicious struggle that Warp Travel seems to have become.

Something is upsetting the normal flows of the Warp... I can feel it. Usually it is random, uncaring, chaotic... but now it is almost as if it were conciously making our journeys difficult... I do not understand.

Soul Reaver steps away from the portal to await the arrival of his companions.

Tamrissa looks over her shoulder at Peterson, then turns her passive gaze front again. With a widening of her eyes, she whips around in a double take at what the man is wearing. She raises her brows high and the corner of her lips lifts in a small smile.

"Yes, I noticed he can be somewhat abrupt," she lets her eyes slip down over the suit of armor again. "Well, nothing wrong with a person taking the bull by the horns rather than dancing around with a brightly colored cape."

She clears her throat with another smile directed at the marine before she turns to the Warp Soul has just exited through.

"You heard what he said, follow closely," she walks toward the gate. "Everyone through. Gulver."

Her eyes flick to him and then she is walking through the wavering opening, her aura surrounding her and protecting her from harsh conditions in the Warp. She follows a few steps behind Soul, the pressure against her shield becoming worse and worse. She strides out into the open plain soon after he does.

"No forests around, so perhaps we won't be accused of being assassins here," she smirks and looks back towards the Warp...

Fei stands in the midst of the apocolyptic battlefield of the Lower Umbra, his body twisting with discomfort as he begins to pace himself back and forth, the birds eye view fading to white as he opens his eyes.

"I wonder what you're doing right now.... I wonder how things have gone... it's already been a week, and this God Forsaken emptiness won't die. Who's lied to me?! I try talking to Gima but he does not respond.... What are his motives about this? Why did he want me to stay behind? In the mood I'm in, I'd sooner be killing.... The urge is so great.... It takes everything to stop me. This beast within just wants to control me. Why must I let it? What benefit will I have by letting it control me. It speaks promises to me of making this pain stop..... how sweet they sound. But I can't... Not after what happened last time.... I don't want it to hurt you either..... Which is what it will if I give in to it's will... I know it far too well now.... what choices do I have? None.... I have to stay here and dedicate myself to this blasted Umbra under Gima's will." Fei sighs as he speaks almost audable, his lips barely moving as he speaks, chaos around him as the Soul's of the Upper Umbra clear their fury with the evil. "I don't know how much more I can last, madaam. Why does the undead have to suffer so. But anyways..... I'm still praying for you. May you not fail... please come home someday...."

Fei lifts his head and blinks slightly with the blood red tears forming under his eyes. A rage can be seen forming as he spits to the side, the blood burning a hole right into the ground. "It's driving me fucking nuts!!"

Fei vanishes and appears next to one of the spirits of the lower umbra, his figure turning into a dark shadow. Within an instant, Fei brings his hand up to the spirit. His arm turns into the neck and Face of a horrific creature as it chomps down on the cowering sinner with it's dark, shadowy hideous, serratted teeth, ripping it's essence apart, in a shower of gold sparks that fade to a refined spiritual like ash, barely satisfying his sudden lust for destruction which the beast is causing inside him, trying to get out, very noticable in his persona.

Slowly cooling off, Fei's figure flickers and rematerializes from the transparent darkness. "Very nuts.... very fucking nuts."

Yue stood back up after hearing Soul Reavers warning. She adjusted the belt around her waist and looked over to Shenba who was now helping Keseno, Yue nodded to herself

Yue followed Soul and Tamrissa into the Warp Gate, relieved to be moving once again. Yue flinches at the storm inside of the Warp. She hurriedly steps out the other side shortly after Tamrissa and gazed around at the scenery.

"Pretty"

Asaki stares at Peterson, wide eyed but happy to see him.
"I'm glad you're alright! When I saw that warp hole drag you in I thought that....well, nevermind. It's just great to have you back again."
With that, the teenager begins to follow the others, staying behind them, but close. She grips Kasei firmly in her hand, trying to maintain her balance within the warp storms around them.
Once they reach firm ground, Asaki seats herself on the grass.
"Whew! That was.....intense."
The teenager stands, races up an elevated hill in the distance and walks towards the edge. Her ears twitch as she looks at the ground meters beneath the hill she stands on. She takes a few seconds to examine the surroundings. She smiles.
*i can breathe out here.*
She cups her hands over her mouth and shouts to her companions.
"Hey you can see everything from up here! It's incredible!!"
Kasei: You wanna maybe join the ranks before you break your neck?
The teenager shields her eyes, trying to get a better view.
"I don't get it. There's no one here. Not a house...nothing."
She faces the warriors once more, placing a hand on her hip.
"Are you sure this Stavarus guy is here? All I see are hills! I'd hate to think we came all this way for nothing!"

Soul Reaver looks around the surroundings somewhat preoccupied. He seems to be trying to remember something. It takes a few moments before he turns around to face his companions. First he speaks to Yue.

"Pretty? Yes... in a wild sort of way. It is certainly preferable to the Warp."

He smiles thinly when he sees Peterson emerge from the Warp Gate, his new cloak whipping behind him from the unnatural storms.

"Ah, I see you've chosen to rejoin our quest. And I also see you are more appropriately attired this time. I must say, I approve of your new appearance. It is good to have you back, Lieutenant Peterson."

However, Soul Reaver suddenly whips around when Asaki yells into the wind.

"Asaki! Be more discreet! We do not know where we are yet, or what may lurk here! In fact... I have an eerie feeling of familiarity about this place."

As the Warp Gate behind the companons seals itself, Soul Reaver looks around. His brow creases.

"It feels as if I have been here before..."

Suddenly Soul Reaver's eyes go wide.

"No... wait... it can't be..."

He holds his right hand before him. He begins to chant. Small sparks of reddish energy flicker from between his fingers... but little more. He concentrates more heavily, his chanting increasing in volume. His hand begins shaking, and a drop of sweat rolls down the side of his face. Nothing more than fizzing sparks spit from between his fingers. With a gasp, he takes a step backwards.

"My sorcery.... it's being drained away! Everyone! Try to use your special powers... I must know if they function here!"

(ooc: Now, this is important... NONE of your powers can work here, except completely vital ones required to keep you alive. Anything else will fail.)

Peterson thanks Soul for the compliment, and then listens to his command. Still trying to keep his new found chaos magic a secret, he makes no attempt at using it.

If my powers don't work here, then they don't work here. I'm used to not having powers anyway. Besides, if no one else has powers either, then maybe my spending all of my life without those special abilities could prove to be more of a blessing than a curse in this place.

Peterson clamps his helm over his head. He then eyes Asaki.

I still need to talk to her. Even more now than before. If what Lord Cameron said is true......

Peterson lets his thoughts trail off, and watches the others as they attempt to use their powers.

Far away from the others, back on the deck of the Starblade MK II, Cameron Aileron sits with his head in his hands. His eyes still have the glowing red veins running through them, and they pulsate with a blood red glow, off-setting the normal orange color of Cameron's eyes. His thoughts are mostly about the casualties he had seen in the past 5 weeks. He focuses on one in particular. The first one. The one that had died during the battle with Khronos ((See Chaos & cLuTcHFieND Part VIII and IX in the archives)). She had been badly hurt by Khronos, but she had survived. She would have lived, but she gave her life to save Cameron when he himself was forced to use a suicide attack on Khronos. She had given her life, and now Cameron had finally found a way to return the favor.

The Chaos marines have the equipment, and I can get it from them. But I need to relocate her soul........

Back before the battle with Naraka, Cameron would never have known where to start looking for a dead person's soul. But now he does. he reaches out with his mind, trying to locate someone. He can't find Fei, so he locks on the next best person.......

A cold shiver shoots down Tamrissa's spine as the others try their powers and fail. She swallows against the bile rising and lets out a slow shaky breath. Her eyes dart around, the feeling of being trapped suddenly coming on her despite the open outdoors.

I have shut off every connection you had to power. The only thing you have is your physical strength...against mine, the coldly amused voice whispers in her ear, breath warm as it blows against her hair and the side of her neck. You should really give yourself more options when it comes to power. Never underestimate the ability of the mundane body to do harm or defend.

She turns her eyes to the ground, the memory stirring her fear even further. Desperately she reaches out for her power, searching for the fingers of magic that allow her to delve into the earth and mold it to her will, the beautiful flow of life that shows her the way to force plant-life from the ground.

Nothing.

Her hands stiffen, fingers spread as she continues to stare in shock at her feet. Slowly she raises her eyes up, restraining the thing inside that wants her to scream. When a few turn to give her a questioning glance, she blinks and tries to part her lips to say something. Terror prohibits it and she simply shakes her head in a negative response.

You are defenseless in a strange dimension. Anyone who is better with a sword or bigger than you can beat you down into the ground, the thing inside cries. Go to Fei and bring him back here with you. He'll protect you. Go to him.

She backs up a few steps, hands meeting the rough, moss-covered surface of a boulder. The color has drained from her face as she perches on the edge of the flat rock.

Forget it. If you go to him it will make him think he has some kind of sway over you, another part of her growls. The Kuru is still yours to wield. You have legs to run. You have friends to stand beside you. It will take a lot to harm you, let alone kill you. Don't be a coward.

Firmly agreeing with the second voice, she takes a steady breath and the fire returns to her eyes as she looks at the others.

"There are a lot of things that could be worse," she makes herself say. "This will only make us stronger."

Her gaze flicks to each of them, not letting her own doubt show in the icy expression on her face.

Emptiness roars inside of her...

Zera follows Thisias through the Warp, gasping against the rage inside of it. When they pass through to the other side, she is uncharacteristically happy to see the vast plain and its rustic scenery. Her eyes catch the scared looks on the others faces and she arches an eyebrow at them.

"What's wrong?" the illusion of a caring voice is lost as she speaks, an annoyed lilt hightlighting her words instead.

She coughs to cover it, lightly patting her chest.

"My, that Warp has certainly gotten tougher to walk through since the last time we used it," she says truthfully, coughing again.

A smirk develops inwardly at the sight of Tamrissa turning white as a ghost and looking defeated. She can almost smell the fear and remembrance on the other woman. The golden-haired bitch had to be remembering something about Naraka, either him or her lap dog. Either one was a good guess by the grip of horror she was in. And the show was going quite well until the whore got back on her feet with that stubborn lift of her chin.

"What happened? Why is everyone so silent and foreboding and...?" the second time her voice went with her true feelings, she knew immediately what the problem was...

Peterson tests himself.

"Well, let's see. I have no powers to lose, and my main line of defense......."

Peterson pauses, unsheathes his large scythe, and swings it hard, impaling it through a nearby tree. He chuckles audibly before finishing his sentance.

"My main line of defense is purely physical. Being a marine does have it's advantages.

Peterson's spirits soar, seeing that his former weakness has now become a rather big advantage. He then sees Tamrissa, looking like she is about to die. Peterson rips his scythe out of the tree and walks over to her.

"Lady, there isn't much I can say that will help you, but if anyone attacks us, I'll fight along side of you no matter how bad the odds are."

Peterson then looks off into the distance and mumbles something to himself.

" And they shall know no fear......."

"Yes, it is quite vacant..."

Some thoughs started to appear again in Yue's mind but she quickly pushed them away and turned back to Soul Reaver as he told everyone to attempt to use their powers.

Yue frowned in confusion but tryed them anyways. She held out her hand in front of her and attempted to create a simple energy ball. There was a low crackle in the palm of her hand and then nothing. Shocked, Yue dropped her hand to her side and stared blankly at the others as they too failed. Yue let out a groan and fell back onto a mossy rock behind her.
