The arena spins around in circles, the cheering Oghrun doubling in number and then melding back into one giant crowd. Tamrissa drops the short sword in her hand as the others leap forward to meet the oncoming threat. Her head bows and she brings her hand up to her hair, unconciously drawing it into a fist. The blood flies a few feet from her and the beast calls.
Let me in, blondie. You may not have your powers, but you have me, the slimey voice whispers, seductive and tempting depsite her hate for the owner of it.
Fei has already given in and I can tear them apart for you. I can protect your allies. I can give them a show...She closes her eyes, fighting still. Her will power lasts for only a moment and then the hound attacks. It bowls her over, flattening her to the sand with jaws snapping at her neck. Before it can sink its teeth into her, she puts both fists through its chest.
As she rolls the horrible reeking monster off of her, she looks up to her fellows and then to the Oghrun spectators. Her olive eyes are stained with bright red flares and her hair is matted with fresh blood from the animal. She bares her teeth as she rips her hands from the chest of the hound, pulling muscle and gore along with them. A stream of blood rolls down from her forehead to the edge of her lips, where she licks it off. She smirks as the creature twitches in a final death throw.
"Here, puppy," she suddenly chides and whips her head around to look at another charging hound.
Her fingers wrap around the handaxe belted to her hip and lift it slightly as the canine nears. Letting out a ragged battle cry, she swings the axe into the air just as the beast lunges. The wedge-shaped blade makes contact with the flesh of the dog's leg and a startled yelp rings through the roar of the crowd. A blood-choked snarl leads into the hound's next attempt to leap at her. This time she is knocked backwards, but her feet are ready and she throws the huge thing over as she rolls back to a steady stance, just missing the snapping mawl as it passes over her.
Tsk, tsk...you're doing nicely, but to keep me muffled is to be weaker. Let me help you help me, the voice hisses.
Tam's head tilts to the side as she stands there blood-drenched and grinning, a small crack sounding as she does so. She straightens her neck and holds her hands away from her to the sides, feet spread apart and axe gripped firmly in one hand. The hound charges again and this time, her snarl almost matches its own.
The axe buries itself in the dog's meaty side and its head is turned abruptly to the left as her free hand uses the momentum of its lunge to break its neck. Her eyes flash with pleasure as she hears the snap of bones. She pulls the axe from it as it falls and then finishes the job with a few heartless chops into the still flopping form. Blood splatters.
Flipping the axe in her hand, she spins around to slice another beast as it comes at her back. The morning star appears in her other hand and she sends a few hammering blows to the ugly head. She screams a strangled cry as a large paw with sharp claws rakes down her side in effect of the hound trying to get past her brutal pounding. Going down into a crouch, she stares up at the battered face recovering from her attacks and preparing to make another of its own attacks.
Give it to me, sweet thing. Stand back and watch."Bad dog."
She dodges out of the way as the snapping jaw comes down at her. Rolling up into another crouch, she grabs the short sword she left behind in the sand near the gate. Standing quickly and turning to face the now extremely pissed animal, she gestures a come hither motion to the growling slobbering mess. Her gesture is obeyed and with a arching swing of the short sword, a chunk of flesh is diced from the muzzle.
As the hound howls and shakes its head against the pain, she rams the sword into the side of its throat. The shadows inside of her lending their strength, she tears through the muscle and bone and gristle with the poorly kept weapon. She stands in the fountain of blood as it pours, her blade pulling out of the flailing monster and then plunging back in. Her hacking doesn't stop until the head is taken from the shoulders, the body still quaking and the eyes still rolling in the sockets. The heavy corpse falls and the head drops a few feet from it.
Sucking at her bloody fingers, Tam turns away from her butchering and walks towards the others. Her red tainted glare is directed towards the cheering Oghrun, wanting nothing more than to rip them apart the same way she and her companions were doing to their mutts. Yet, even the shadowy beast inside of her knows its limits. So, she takes her place in the protective circle around their disabled companions.
The pounding heartbeats of her friends standing around her is almost too much, but the willful little woman that is breathing down the neck of the shadows inside insists that she concentrate on bathing herself in the blood of enemies only...
((OOC: Huh? Hmm? What hint?
Good timing for the frenzy, Fei.
It's probably not how you wanted it, but it worked well to give Tam strength enough to take on the enemy without her magic.))
