(ooc: Is Tennojw still having trouble?)
Soul Reaver raises his left hand slightly at Asaki's comment about him trapping Blooddrinker, indicating that there is an innacurracy there. When she has finished, he states,
"Actually, Blooddrinker's imprisonment is the work of the Magic-Using Orders of Dynaria. I cannot take the credit for his imprisonement.
However, the others are right. Trapped as he is, Blooddrinker is under my control... most of the time. I am afraid even my vigilance lapses slightly at times. It was during such a lapse that he must have contacted you.
But surely you realise that Blooddrinker did this only to sow dissent amongst us. Will you truly give him the pleasure of knowing he manipulated you so easily?"
Stavarus scowls at this, but the madness seems to fade from his eyes. Soul Reaver removes the blade from Stavarus' neck, letting the Daemon-Hunter go.
Even so, Stavarus speaks bitterly to Asaki.
"Work for Khora? He is the commander of these Dark Legion, yes? Why would I aid the puppet one who made me suffer torments beyond your imagining, child? And why would this puppet want me dead? No, you are sorely mistaken to suspect my motives. I have told you what I want. I want the Warp Lord dead!"
Though Stavarus' words are harsh, they seem sincere. Of course, he may simply be a skillful liar...
Not giving Asaki time to dwell on that thought, Stavarus then speaks to Soul Reaver.
"You say that you have the beast under control... yet how can you be certain? How can you be certain you have truly outwitted the Daemon Lord? What if he is merely using you for his own ends, and thus lets you and your companions live for now?"
Soul Reaver doesn't reply to this. Stavarus had echoed a disturbing thought that had occurred to Soul Reaver himself before. Yet he knew he had no choice but to weild the weapon. To abandon it would be certain agony and doom to those weaker-willed creatures that eventually fall sway to its silent siren song.
Besides, the sword had not shown any sign of having control over Soul Reaver, and it had aided him in its own sadistic ways countless times already. Soul Reaver knew he had to trust in his abilities... to doubt was to despair.
Soul Reaver decides it is best to change the subject. Sheathing Blooddrinker's crimson blade, he speaks to Stavarus.
"You say you know where we must go to next... so enlighten us. We will not get closer to the staff if we stand around here and bicker."
Stavarus nods.
"I shall open the Warp Gate to this world. I do not know it myself, I have never been there. I simply hope we find the staff quickly."
Gesturing in the air, Stavarus draws open a Warp Gate. Not waiting for the others, he jumps through.
Soul Reaver, shaking his head in irritation, quickly says,
"We had better follow him," before diving into the pulsing, blood-red Warp himself.
