Soul Reaver continues to move from pillar to pillar, just in case there is an enemy nearby. However, the entire area remains quiet as a tomb.

A brass-framed wooden double door sits at the end of the passage. This one, too, looks to have been left open.

Soul Reaver sends a telepathic message to his companions.

It is likely they went this way. Remain on guard.

Soul Reaver carefully slips through the opening in the doorway, Blooddrinker ready.

This chamber is in a shambles. The stone walls look to have been scorched and scarred during some sort of battle. Piles of armour lie strewn across the floor.

Near the centre of the chamber, Soul Reaver can see someone moving.

A figure dressed in a black poncho and dark blue duster gets up, his back to Soul Reaver. There is a distinct metallic clinking as he gets up. Without turning around, he talks to the companions in a surprisingly cheerful voice.

"Ah, hello. I think you're the ones I've been waiting for."

Without saying anything else, he whirls around, raising a gun in his right hand as he does so. A loud bang echoes through the room as a flaming bullet hurtles from the barrel, flying directly towards Soul Reaver's heart.

Without thinking, Soul Reaver swings Blooddrinker upwards. The bullet explodes in a shower of flaming sparks just before it hits him. The imact is enough to cause Soul Reaver to stagger backwards a step. The man grins.

"Hmmm... so he was right. That sword IS with you... so where's the other one? Well... I guess she'll show up soon enough. Maybe this will have been worth my time after all..."

As the man speaks, Soul Reaver notices a hulking suit of armour walking up behind him. Though it isn't exactly silent, the man is too engrossed in speaking to notice it.

The suit raises its poleaxe far above its head...

And suddenly a dark figure swishes past behind the armour, dropping diagonally from the ceiling. A metallic 'shwing' is heard as it passes by and lands on the ground behind the armour.

The armour stays stock still for a moment, then shudders... and then collapses into two neat halves. The figure has cleaved a sword right through the metal guardian, slicing from the top right shoulder right down to the bottom left of its torso. The armour falls apart with a loud clatter as the two halves hit the ground.

The man speaking to Soul Reaver gives a surprised flinch and whirls his head around to see what has happened.

"Geeze, Matthias, you could have SAID something..."

The man behind him stands up. He is wearing a white mask with a large green lens over one eye and a small red one over the other. The man speaks quietly.

"Sorry Damien. But you need to be more careful."

Soul Reaver is not certain what to make of this, but these two obviously don't seem too friendly. In preparation, he erects a magical projectile barrier around himself. Eyes narrowed, he challenges the two men.

"Who are you two? And what do you want from us?!"
