(ooc: Can't have Khora get into a scrape yet... that comes later.
Oh, and Kawanua, I'd like you to post how Sera handles this.)
Soul Reaver roars in fury as Clutchfiend falls. A sizzle of red power sparks over his body. His muslces seem to bulk up from the surge of energy, and Soul Reaver begins to drive the Legionnaires back. The green droplets raining from the ceiling seems to weaken his foe, and the Legionnaire is now forced to back off steadily, suffering numerous small cuts from Blooddrinker's whistling blade.
A grin forms on Soul Reaver's face as the Triton suddenly crashes into the chamber - it seems that an old friend has come to help out.
Meanwhile, the moment that Fei excersises his powers, Khora's body momentarily flashes with a dark pulse of magic. Strangely, he does not move to avoid the shadowy blades behind him. They slam through his body, emerging from the front of his chest. Still, the body does not move. From some indeterminate location, Fei can feel a voice entering his head.
I am perfectly aware of your powers, Vampire. In fact, I know about all of you.Khora steps from behind a pillar nearby, as the body on the blades turns to look at Fei with its vile skull. It seems to grin.
No, it is not me... just a Pestilental Decoy. The body on the spikes suddenly evaporates into a cloud of acrid green fumes, which blow straight at Fei's face. The cloud hisses as it makes contact, corrupting whatever organic matter it touches, causing it to slough off in lumps of black bile.
Khora leaps back out of sight again, laughing hoarsely.
Meanwhile, the remaining Legionnaires are hard-pressed to defend themselves against the overwhelming odds. Another one of their number, slowed by Asaki's spell, fails to completely avoid Tukedo's net, and is badly damaged as the net carves a large chunk out of its back is it tries to flee. The Legionnaire stumbles as it tries to back away... and a blazing blue crossbow bolt slams through its head. Staggering and blinded, the Legionnaire is helpless as Sera's shadowy double cuts it down.
With only eight of their number remaining, the Legionnaires change tactics. Each of them makes an agile retreat from their opponents. As one, they begin to chant words of magic. The rot overwhelming their bodies slows and begins to regress as dark magical energies play and flicker over them. Soul Reaver tries to chase after his foe, but it feels as if the air in front of him had become thick as lead. No matter how much he struggles, he can move forward only at an agonisingly slow pace.
Soul Reaver realises that the Elite Legionnaires are combining all their magical powers into one... their magical strength is more than he can hope to Dispel at such short notice. Cursing, he sends a message to all his companions.
Whatever the Legionnaires are about to do, it is going to be bad! Brace yourselves! The Legionnaires quickly arrange themselves into a circle, their hands outstretched. The dark energies flaring from their hands spiral and twist together as their chanting increases in volume.
Suddenly, their voices go quiet. Only a faint sizzling can be heard as a large sphere of deep purple gently rises from the midst of the circle of Legionnaires. It floats about four metres into the air, then hovers there, occasionnaly spitting out a random arc of bright blue lightning. Then...
WHOOSH!
The Black Orb suddenly pulses with a dark intensity that is almost blinding. Then, it fires hundreds upon hundreds of fist-sized bolts, each leaving behind a trail of lazy, smoky energy. The bolts seem to have a mind of their own, twisting and whirling through the air, each seeking a target to call its own.
Soul Reaver makes a massive backwards leap away as several of the Black Orb Bolts are about to strike him. Yet they rapidly change course, curving away and turning to follow his trajectory through the air. Soul Reaver sees with some horror as his shadowy double is struck from all sides by more of the bolts... each smoky blast rips a sizeable piece out of it, until it evaporates back into pure magic.
The other doubles fare no better - lacking the speed, intelligence or magical powers required to defend themsleves, each of them are annihilated by a barrage of Black Orb Bolts.
Soul Reaver only prays that his companions are capable of defending themselves in time as he breathes a hasty spell of Protection and holds Blooddrinker ready. As the bolts begin to whizz towards him, the sword becomes a blur in the air, shattering a countless number of the projectiles into harmless sparks... yet despite his best efforts, Soul Reaver receives many wounds from the evil spell.
Stavarus and Sera, who is standing further away at the end of the chamber, both see a vast mass of bolts coming towards them. Stavarus remarks,
"It seems these creatures will stop at nothing to keep me from my revenge. But I will not give them the pleasure of this victory!"
With this, Stavarus leaps into the air, cartwheeling and spinning as the bolts rain around him. His amazing agility allows him to dodge most of the attacks, the bolts harmlessly striking the floor, walls and ceiling of the chamber as Stavarus gets out of their way. Yet several more still slam into him, causing him to gasp in pain from every impact, dark blood spattering over his clothing.
The other companions too are faced with similar difficulties as the armour-piercing Dark Orb Bolts hurtle towards them...
