With the Warp swirling around him, he grips the Staff of Ashara in both hands, levelling it with the black sphere in the distance.
"Perhaps this will purge the surface of that planet of the foulness nesting in it.
May the Gods watch over me, and may justice prevail."
Soul Reaver then focuses on the Staff.
Almost immediately, he feels a sensation as if his blood were being drained from his body. A horrible chill races up from his hands and fills his being as the Staff exacts its price. Yet at the same time, Soul Reaver feels a great sense of power, as the Staff's energy becomes one with him.
The Staff begins with a low hum at first, small sparks of yellow power coursing over its surface. Every second however, the hum increases in pitch, and the Staff glows ever-brighter. Sizzling becomes audible as bolts of yellow lightning leap from the Staff of Ashara, playing over Soul Reaver's body. Soul Reaver seems to be growing ever paler as the Staff charges itself up.
Soul Reaver feels his heart flutter for a moment as his own power fades and the heat of the Staff's energy becomes almost overwhelming. He is forced to shut his eyes from the brightness, as the Staff glows in his hand like a new-born sun.... and then...
With a sudden 'whoosh' the tip of the Staff of Ashara projects a single beam of blinding energy into the distance. The beam, consisting of energy focused and amplified by the Staff, disappears towards the black planet, leaving only a single glowing speck.
A few seconds later, the cursed world below is struck by it.
Stavarus watches in disbelief as veins of yellow energy crawl out from the impact point, rapidly covering the entire planet in a burning radiance. A distant crackling is heard, and then the entire planet explodes with an ear-shattering boom.
Giant molten globs of rock fly outwards from where the planet once was, hissing and vaporizing into nothiness even as they fly though space. A yellow shockwave of power rolls outwards from the planet, hitting the companions with the force of a hurricane.
Of the planet, only a handful of dispersing dust and ashes remain.
Soul Reaver meanwhile almost loses his grip on the Staff as he draws a shuddering breath. His armour seems heavy and cold. He can barely find the strength to draw hold onto the weapon in his hands. Breathing is difficult and exhausting. He forces out the words,
"It... works..."
However, he falls back into silence as he tries to catch his breath.
