The Immortal Brigadier General
|
(ooc: Kanshisha, firstly, Blackrend wasn't holding the chains anymore, but I'll let that slide since it doesn't really matter... but know that no single warrior can defeat him in combat - he's more than a match for any one of us. As such, expect a really nasty counter attack now. (As a side note, its a bit unfair for someone to post a whole series of attacks on a creature without giving them a chance to defend themselves) Clutch, you need to check your Board Battle e-mail account. I sent you some stuff. Oh, and I hope you can muster the energy for one more attack!)
Blackrend finds himself attacked from all sides. Asakis sudden assault catches him off-guard as he was preparing for Soul Reavers attack. As he turns to throw aside her fireballs, Jharm flies upwards from beneath him, cleaving into his tough hide, his blade delivering a scalding blast of holy light that causes the Warp Lord to gasp in pain. A backhand blow swats Jharm away just as Kanshisha launches his attack.
Kitharsis attacks with a Warp Energy wave from behind
unfortunately, the blast seems to simply disappear into the Warp Lords back as if it were nothing. If anything, the muscles where it hit seem to grow larger. Kitharsis continues slashing at the Warp Lords back. As Kanshishas energy wave blasts towards him, Blackrend seems to pause for a moment
and his dark grey skin suddenly darkens even further, becoming smooth, black, shiny, like obsidian. The wave strikes him with a crunching blow that causes cracks to appear across his stony-looking chest, and numerous gashes spark across his hide on several sides.
The huge fireball from Yue, Clutchfiend and Kawanua strike Blackrends bracers, which he has crossed in an attempt to counter it. The ball explodes massively, ripping off pieces of Blackrends Obsidian Armour and the flesh beneath it. Fractures run all across the black rock covering his body, which pings loudly in the heat. He is thrown backwards by the blast, almost blinded by the scorching heat and smoke.
Before his eyes clear, a several spinning beams of darkness and a ball of black power blasts from the flames and strike Blackrends chest. Already fractured, Blackrends armour shatters with a massive sound, sending chips of obsidian raining to the ground and slamming him into the wall behind him.
A burning rage, old as time itself, grows within the Warp Lord. His scorched and battered body, sprouting random horns and writhing as if his muscles were all rearranging himself begins to fill with a hatred so intense it threatens to wither everything near it. His power rises to impossible levels as Kanshisha attacks.
Blackrend, acidic, smoking spittle falling from his mouth, battles against Kanshisha inside the whirlwind, his own swords parrying with incredible speed and skill, allowing only a small number of strikes to penetrate through. The explosion that envelops him enrages him further, as it rips skin off his body with its fury. Yet his flesh seems to bubble beneath the wounds, welling out and forming new skin over his old wounds.
The Warp Lord gives a grin as Kanshisha blasts the shards of the chains at him. Blackrend opens his arms wide
and the shards curve in mid flight TOWARDS him. The solidified Warp energy that the chain-shards are composed of enter his body as if they were drops of water entering an ocean, leaving only gentle ripples behind.
Soul Reaver arrived just as Kanshisha was building his own last assault. A flickering field of Blackness hovering around him, Soul Reaver leaps impossibly high into the air, his blood-soaked Daemon blade at his side. The distracted Blackrend is unprepared for the initial strike, and Blooddrinker bites deeply into his side, the blade singing a metallic tune as it parts flesh, sinew and bone with ease. Blackrend roars from the pain and numbing emptiness that spills from the wound, even as Blooddrinker himself rejoices at the black blood flowing over his blade.
Soul Reaver spins around, just as Blackrend also turns to face him. Soul Reaver is met by a wall of whirling steel. Something was giving the Warp Lord more strength than ever before it was obvious his situation and the pain he was suffering was driving him to overstep all previous limits to his power. Soul Reaver cannot stand against the attacks for long. His retribution shield flashes darkly again and again as Blackrend slashes at him, some blows deflecting off the shield, others penetrating and drawing bloody tattoos onto Soul Reavers body. Soul Reaver ignores the injuries, as a black aura suffuses the fists holding Blooddrinker. He is building an attack, and hopefully keeping Blackrends attention away from the others.
Suddenly, Soul Reaver disengages and points Blooddrinker at Blackrend. Channeling his energy through is sword, Soul Reaver fires a ball of crackling energy at Blackrend. As it passes through Blooddrinker, the attack absorbs some of Blooddrinkers own power and hatred, adding a spinning helix of crimson around the outside of the bolt.
The huge blast is as large as Soul Reaver himself. But to his surprise, Blackrend makes no move to avoid it. Instead, Blackrend spreads his wings wide
and as the sphere is just about to hit him, Blackrends wings close over it, wrapping around his body.
Soul Reaver is taken aback by the unexpected reaction, and before he can parry, Blackrend spreads his wings again. Motes of crimson light seem to dance over the insides of his wings and over his chest. Soul Reavers eyes go wide as the dancing lights grow in intensity
and Blackrend unleashes a huge beam from his body.
Soul Reaver is completely enveloped in the blast, and everything around his is simply burning redness. His Retribution Shield sparks and hisses as if in anger, flickering wildly as the blast penetrates through it and bears Soul Reaver to the ground. He lies there in pain, the Retribution Shield almost jumping from his body
Blackrend whirls around to face Kanshisha.
You wish to challenge me directly then? Perhaps you need to see what it is you really face!
Blackrend extends both his free hands in front of him, and envelops Kanshisha in a massive Rend spell a spell designed to literally rend the flesh and muscle from a persons bones in bloody ribbons, leaving nothing but their gashed, broken skeleton behind. Normally, the spell could kill an ordinary man
but this one is manyfold stronger. It hits Kanshisha like a storm of invisible razors, ripping his clothes to shreds and bathing him in searing agony.
But that is simply to distract him from Blackrends true attack. Blackrends eyes focus on Kanshisha, their burning depths smouldering with a palpable HATRED for all that lives. Blackrends mind projects outwards at Kanshisha, ripping into his mind with a fury borne from a time before the first life even flickered into existence in the Mortal Plane, from a time when there was only unending darkness and unforgiving cold, a time when Gods were but sparks and infants. The psychic blast is overwhelming, flooding Kanshishas brain with such torment that nothing else exists for him anymore. He plunges towards the ground, his head about to explode
A blast of searing, agonizing power strikes Blackrend into his cut and wounded back. It burns with a agonizingly chill fire, interrupting his assault, and causing him to roar in pain.
Blackrend whirls around. He sees Soul Reaver floating above the ground, the Retribution Shield around the warrior now disappearing, the massive amount of energy it had absorbed now spent.
But Soul Reaver looks strange. His outline shimmers white, and he hovers a few centimetres above the ground.
Soul Reaver can feel a power within him, a sliver of the infinite energy that resides deep in every immortal soul. It flows through him like clear water, like burning fire. The agony of his body matters nothing now it is a shell, rude matter, just a prison for eternity.
Soul Reaver curls into a ball as Blackrend raises his hands, screaming phantasmal serpents whirling up his arms as he prepares to launch a devastating attack that will smear this finite into nothing more than a thick, bloody paste
Soul Reaver unfurls his body. A blinding white light shines from between his hands as he does so
between his hands, floating in the air, he cradles a small, blazing white ball like a new-born babe. Formed both through magic and the well of power now springing forth from within him, he holds in is hands almost pure, distilled destruction.
A Sphere of Annihilation.
His face expressionless, Soul Reaver hurls the ball at Blackrend. The creatures eyes go wide as the tiny sphere hurtles towards him.
The Sphere of Annihilation explodes the moment it strikes Blackrends chest.
The ball roars outwards, a sphere of pure white-hot, blazing power that sends out an incredible shockwave of energy. The blast punches Soul Reaver out of the air, throwing him through the remains of a stone pillar and sending him sliding and rolling over the ground in a massive cloud of dust, until he slams into the far wall.
The Sphere of Annihilation grows to a massive size, rock vaporizing at its touch, and molten droplets of stone spinning through the air before it. The air at its surface is burned away to nothingness. Even through his tightly-shut eyelids, Soul Reaver feels as if his eyes were being burned from their sockets.
As it feels as if ones bones themselves would shatter in the body from the blast, the sphere finally fades away, leaving behind nothing but pure destruction. A massive spherical area of the chamber everything that was enveloped by the Sphere has been completely vaporized. Not even ashes and dust remain.
But in the centre of the sphere of destruction remains one stubborn, horrifying black form, curled into a smoking, bleeding ball.
Even as Soul Reaver watches, the Warp Lord unfurls his tortured body. This time, he intends to end it all.
