The hallway you find yourself in is horrific. There must be about a hundred steel pillars in two rows running its length. Mounted upon each one is a gruesome ‘torch’ – a charred human skull, flames licking from mouth, nose, and eye-sockets. Flesh bubbles and sizzles as it runs like wax and drips from the blackened bone. The burning faces move slowly and moan at you in pain.
Beyond the vile light shed by the skull-torches is only terrifying darkness. Faint, agony-filled whispers can be heard all around you, with the occasionally shrill scream setting your nerves on edge. The sound of claws on bone and metallic creaking can also be heard from time to time.
At the south end of the hallway is the massive gate that leads from Pandemonium back outside into the wastes of Inferno. At the opposite end of the hallway is a huge double door, bearing a twisted glyph that is painful to look at.
In two lines in front of the door stand half a dozen pitiful creatures… they look basically human, but so pale and emaciated as to resemble corpses more than living things. Their pale grey hair hangs down from their heads in dirty strands, and their white, empty eyes look vacantly forward as they moan quietly to themselves. Each of these creatures has had the flesh flayed from their backs, and has four chains attached to their protruding ribs with cruelly barbed hooks. The other end of the chains are all fastened to the doors.
Two fat, bloated Daemons stand ready in alcoves beside the door, each one of them carrying a wickedly barbed lash. Foul black ooze dribbles from their lips as they scrutinize you with hate-filled crimson eyes.
You may ask the guide at your side for information if you wish. On the other hand, you can also exit Pandemonium through the main gate, or head for the double doors at the end of the hallway. Finally, if you decide you have seen enough of the horrors of this place, you can open a Warp Gate and escape into the Warp.
