The obsidian chair you find yourself in is surprisingly comfortable – it feels like it has been moulded to fit your body perfectly, and it is faintly warm to the touch.

The game-board sits in front of you. It is a fascinating device. Though it first appeared quite ordinary, looking at it now you see its surface shifting with hazy, indistinct scenes. Beneath – or perhaps, within – the board squares you see landscapes and locations distant and alien.

Though the images are too vague to make out in detail, they are mesmerizing to look at, and you know with certainty that what you are seeing is more than just a handful of fanciful illusions.

As for the miniatures… they are incredible. Every one of them is modelled in spectacular detail, painted with a skill that is breathtaking to behold. Each miniature is different, some looking human, others radically alien. Every miniature stands upon a base with a unique name carved into a tiny silver plaque with painstaking care.

Somehow, looking at the miniatures, you realize each of them represents a real being – a creature that has at some point played an important role in the development of the Multiverse as it is today.

You find yourself eager to take a closer look at the miniatures.

If you wish to examine the miniatures, you may pick up and look at one of the figures standing on the game-board itself:

Clutchfiend – a grey-haired young man wearing a massive suit of high-tech armour.
Soul Reaver – a massive man that not coincidentally looks exactly like the one standing at your side.
Fei Serumen – a tall, sleek, handsome individual with long, black and white-streaked hair.
Alex Eldwar – a blue-haired humanoid with pointed ears and a rather sardonic expression on his face.
Jihon – a man wearing a strange steel mask with the word ‘Shame’ inscribed upon its forehead.
Thisias Bed – a figure dressed in a bulky Kevlar duster and wearing a broad-brimmed hat. You can faintly see a pair of crimson eyes glinting from its shadows.
Tamrissa Roshan – a somewhat short but beautiful woman with wavy blonde hair.
Zera Al Agni – a woman with short, fiery red hair. She too is dressed in a bulky Kevlar duster and wearing a broad-brimmed hat.
Kawanua Poi – a man with a pair of strangely demonic-looking red angel wings and an ornate suit of armour.
Sera Poi – a stunningly beautiful, long-haired blonde woman carrying a bow. Her armour looks remarkably similar to Kawanua’s
Shenba – an inhuman, scaly female with dreadlock-like hair and evil-looking eyes.
Kalana Ryoki – an attractive young woman, wearing what looks to be very modern scout-gear.
Jharm – a massively muscled, incredibly handsome warrior sporting a pair of angelic wings.
Deravon – a towering individual bearing a mask riveted to his face. Even the small figurine exudes a sense of menace.
Kelvack – a red-haired, bare-chested human with a big grin on his face.
Kitharsis – a huge, heavily tattooed, grey-skinned reptilian creature with a massive Mohawk.
Yue Kurine – a young, pretty woman with a sword strapped to her side.
Damien Idginoh – a rough-looking, one-eyed, scarred man, who is nonetheless grinning with a large cigar sticking from between his teeth.
Matthias – a man bearing a strange white mask with one large green lens over one eye and a small red lens over the other. A deadly-looking blade is strapped to his back.

Or you may wish to look at some of the discarded pieces:

Asaki Masako – a teenage girl with platinum-white hair, and, oddly enough, cats ears and a tail.
Lieutenant Peterson – a massive man bearing a huge suit of high-tech armour and carrying a scythe.
Gulver – a grey humanoid figure with massive talons. It bears a very sinister, predatory expression.
Kanshisha – a man dressed in ornate robes, whose slim frame is still almost crackling with energy.
Rhiyou Kartzeh – a handsome man wearing an unusual-looking military uniform.
Halcon – a very young man, with a determined expression and a well-armoured body.
Tukedo – some sort of robotic being which nonetheless seems to be partly covered with a layer of dark flesh.
Chris Zentalen – a somewhat confused-looking man with bluish hair and pointed ears.
Desiree Drayce – a reptilian female with slitted eyes and carrying a bow.
Florentina Iannuci – an attractive, olive-skinned, black-haired woman with a determined expression.
Brigid Bliant – a strong-looking woman with fierce, slitted feline eyes.
Ella Bliant – a happy-looking young woman wearing oil-stained overalls.
Cerularis – a dashing young man with unusually large canines.
Berdom – a man carrying a pair of nasty-looking pistols and a laptop… but with a friendly expression on his face.
Alexial – an extremely attractive, angelic woman wearing a circlet and bearing beautiful wings.
Slayer – a man dressed in wizard robes and carrying a staff. He seems to be grinning in a worryingly cheerful manner.
Ragore Kazil – a soil-stained figure wearing a druidic garb.
Kax – a man inside an impressive, body-covering mechanical suit.
Edgar Sculling – a tall, broad-shouldered, hairy man with a feral expression on his otherwise refined face.
Poiupp X – a man dressed in loose-fitting clothing and bearing a fine-looking blade.
Shiro Kage – a man bearing a black military vest and trench coat and standing in a martial-arts stance.
Koshima – a short woman with strange, silvery eyes.
